Marolo Preserving the Art of Italian Grappa.
Marolo nestled in the heart of Alba, in Italy's renowned Langhe wine region, Marolo has become one of the country's most respected artisan distilleries. Founded in 1977 by Paolo Marolo, the company has dedicated nearly five decades to elevating grappa from a traditional rural spirit into a refined expression of Italian craftsmanship and terroir.
A Passion for Tradition.Paolo Marolo, a former teacher of herbal medicine and liqueur production at the Alba School of Oenology, believed that exceptional grappa begins with exceptional raw materials. Instead of blending grape pomace from different varieties, he focused on producing single-varietal grappas that preserve the distinctive character of each grape and the landscape from which it comes. This philosophy helped redefine the perception of grappa as a premium artisanal spirit.
Inspired by the Langhe. The vineyards of Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato today recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage landscape provide the foundation for many of Marolo's spirits. Nebbiolo, Barbera, Moscato, Arneis, and Dolcetto are carefully distilled using traditional bain-marie copper stills, allowing the aromas of each grape variety to remain elegant and expressive.
Packaging That Reflects the Product. One of the most distinctive aspects of Marolo is its visual identity. The labels, originally created by Italian artist Gianni Gallo, combine illustration, elegance, and storytelling in a way that has become instantly recognizable. Rather than following changing design trends, the packaging celebrates the personality of each spirit while expressing the heritage of the Langhe region.
More Than a Distillery. Marolo is more than a producer of premium grappa. It represents a philosophy rooted in tradition, innovation, and a deep respect for the land. Every bottle tells the story of the vineyards, the people, and the craftsmanship that define one of Italy's most celebrated wine regions. Marolo is also an inspiring example of how packaging can become an extension of a brand's identity communicating quality, heritage, and emotion with remarkable simplicity.
