Galup. Piedmont, Italy

Galup is an Italian confectionery brand founded in 1922 by Pietro “Monsù Ferrua in Pinerolo, Piedmont.

Galup is particularly famous for inventing the panettone basso — a “low” panettone topped with a crunchy glaze made from Piedmont hazelnuts. Their recipe has deep roots: they still use natural leavening (lievito madre), fresh Italian dairy, top-quality ingredients, and carefully selected hazelnuts. Galup preserves a sense of artisan heritage while operating at a national and international scale. Beyond their classic panettone, their offerings include colomba (Easter cake), pandoro, sweet treats, chocolates, pralines, marrons glacés, biscuits, gluten-free lines, and more.

Design & Branding, Galup’s packaging often combines elegance and festivity; they periodically refresh their visuals with warm colour palettes, original wrappers and gift packaging that reflect holiday celebrations etc. Over time, Galup has become a symbol of Piedmont food culture, awarded in categories like bakery products at the Piemonte Food Awards. It has also been registered as a “Historic Brand of National Interest” in Italy.
